This adapter has a standard UK 13A (BS 1363) three-pin male plug on one end and a 16A IEC 60309 ‘commando’ female socket on the other, allowing equipment fitted with a 16A commando inlet to be powered from an ordinary 13A domestic or venue socket. It’s a common item in a touring or dry-hire power kit for bridging equipment between the two connector standards found across UK venues and stages.
As with any 13A-to-16A adapter, the maximum current draw is limited by the 13A BS 1363 plug end (13A), not the 16A rating of the commando socket, so it should only be used with loads within the 13A supply’s safe capacity.
